Traffic chaos, including 'a junction which defies belief and is permanently marked by a single ever shifting traffic cone', run down shop fronts, broken lighting, cramped and broken pavements and 'an ever growing number of Met yellow signs advertising violent crime' - this is truly the pits, according to voters.

Concrete and metalbarriers, 'wasting away in places, supposedly designed to protect pedestrians from the full force of the dual carriageway traffic, are used as an assault course by those determined to get from one side to the other', according to one voter.

Add into this scene of urban decay 'a few superficial pots with palm trees in them', as one voter puts it, and you have Londoners' chosen Street of Shame.
